Chapter 10 blog
In Chapter 10, Luis comes to a realization when his "homeboys" try to kill him, the people he would've died for and done anything for tried to kill him. He knew that at that moment he had to get away from it all , he moved to become a better person. On page 244, Luis is grown with a family of his own, while at a quince he is approached by a man named Chava. While this encounter all Chava wants is revenge for what Lomas did to him but Luis knows that that will not give him the peace that he hopes to get. At that moment Luis holds him and Chava begins to break down in tears. Luis says how it was the "final tempo of the crazy life leave his body" by writing this last line he is pretty much saying how that was the end of his old life. He will never return to it that part of him was dead and will only be a memory to him now.

He had finally made it his life was changing and he wanted to become someone better. Luis focused more on his career than on his gang life. For once in his life he was where he wanted to be and he didn't want anyone to get in the way of his success and achievements. But he soon realizes that his success only last a while.

Chapter 8 Blog
During chapter 8 of the story Luis talks about "Love" and how it is just a word thrown out like it is nothing. He uses words that contradict each other such as "love" and "kill" to show how teens would kill to feel that type of feeling. Girls would go to extra measures just for a guy to notice them and guys would actually notice it. Girls were swept off their feet by any little attention they got that they would eventually go to another step with the guy. By using the contradiction of these words it only showed the vulnerability of teens.

Chapter 7 Blog
Chapter seven starts with a group of Chicanos fighting for their rights. During this event Luis decides to speak up and is arrested for it. Luis uses belligerent diction throughout this part of the chapter to express how aggressive the officers were and how they did not care for any other race. Words such as "gouging", "beating", "murderous" and "frenzy" are examples of these words to show the ruthlessness that the officers had. It makes you understand the segregation between the races and how Mexicans were mainly targeted by police officials.

Chapter 6 Blog
Chapter 6 starts off with an event where Luis is describing some dream he had. The author uses positive and negative words to to compare the feelings he had during this dream. The two words that he uses, deathbed" and "bliss" both contradict each other a lot. Deathbed being a negative word is used to describe the terror and fear he is feeling while having this dream of his dead sister and Bliss to describe Luis' sister and how she can finally rest in peace. These words are an example of an oxymoron since they are 2 terms that contradict one another.

Chapter 4 Blog
Chapter 4 starts off with a more serious topic and ends with the same topic, suicide. Luis wants to commit suicide because of everything that is going on in his life. The first time he puts a razor blade to his wrist and is about to cut his artery but realizes he is worth something. The second time he uses too much spray and dies for a quick minute. Luis deals with a lot during his younger years, from getting kicked out of his parents house to joining a gang. The pressure of it all gets to him and thinks that if he just kills himself everything will go away. Even nowadays kids deal with depression, bullying or just a lot of stress and it gets to a point where they are scared to speak up and reach out for help just like Luis is in this chapter. He prefers to try the "easy" way to get out of all his worries and problems.

Chapter 3 Blog
In chapter three of Always Running there are two main events that lead Luis into wanting to become a cholo. The first scene is when Clavo gets shot in the head for calling out a big gang "Sangra Diablos." This stirred up more conflict because it made Luis realize that if he stuck by with the small gang that he is in right now they have no chance to stand up to anyone. The second scene is when a group of friends decide to go to the beach and get in an argument with some white beach guys who turn out to be under covered cops. They all end up getting arrested and Luis probably realizes that staying in a small gang is going to do nothing for them. Staying in "Animal Tribe" only means that he will be a weakling to the other tribes, they can't stand up to Lomas or Sangra Diablos so he has to make a choice. Either leave the gang life or join a bigger and badder gang that will help him if he ever gets into trouble.

Chapter 1 Blog
In the first chapter of "Always Running" by Luis J. Rodriguez, the author writes how his "Dad quit school to be with the woman who would later become Seni's mother" It's crazy to think that making one choice changed his whole life and even changed the life of his future kids. By dropping out and moving to East L.A where all the gangs are at he made the choice of living a more harder life. If his dad would've never dropped out of medical school he would have been a successful man who had nothing to do with gangs and his children wouldn't have ended up the way they did. He struggled to get a job mainly because of his race the only work he could ever get was a often a laborer. The whole first chapter focuses more on introducing the whole characters and saying something about them.
